Holiday Tree Arrives on State St. in Santa Barbara
The downtown holiday tree has arrived in Santa Barbara, but for a time, two months ago, it was about to be cancelled due to funding issues.
Consumer Fire Products Inc. of Goleta (also Oregon) heard of the issue through NewsChannel 3 and contacted the Downtown Organization with an offer to help.
That saved the tree.
“How often do you get an opportunity to give an entire town a Christmas tree? We are lucky to be chosen to do this for the community,” said Irene Rhodes with Consumer Fire Products.
It arrived on the back of a large flatbed hauler this morning.
Santa Barbara public works and Specialty Crane installed the tree in a special slot at State and Victoria Streets.
The colorful lights have already been turned on but they will be “relit” for the 62nd Holiday Parade on December 5 that will feature 90 entries and Grand Marshal Alan Thicke.
