California Conservation Corps Prepares for Winter Weather
When natural disasters strike, California Conservation Corps members are ready to help with emergencies across the country.
The Los Padres division is preparing for upcoming winter weather with flood training.
45 young men and women spent the day at Cuesta College learning how to build sandbag walls, stabilize levees and other flood prevention techniques.
If called out to flood sites, corps members will be moving thousands of sandbags for up to 16 hours a day.
The California Conservation Corps was created in 1976 by Gov. Brown during his first term, and has filled more than 3.5 million sandbags throughout the state.
