Rain Suspected in Santa Maria Warehouse Roof Collapse

Employees of a large Santa Maria business were forced to evacuate the building they were working in when part of the roof collapsed Friday night.

It happened at about 7:00pm at the North American Fire Hose Company warehouse on the 900 block of East Noble Avenue near the Santa Maria CHP office.

Yellow caution tape surrounds the sprawling building which has been declared unsafe to occupy.

No injuries were reported.

Investigators are trying to determine if heavy rain Friday night in the Santa Maria area was to blame for the partial roof collapse.
