CoastHills Community Foundation Awards $75,000 to the Mission Hope Cancer Center

The Marian Regional Medical Center Foundation is pleased to announce that Marian Cancer Care and the Mission Hope Cancer Center are the recipients of a generous $75,000 donation from the CoastHills Credit Union’s Community Foundation. The funding will provide crucial support for those undergoing cancer treatments.

The Mission Hope Cancer Center (MHCC), located on the Marian Regional Medical Center campus, is the region’s only advanced comprehensive cancer care center. Highly specialized physicians, oncology nurses and therapists provide integrated oncology care to the Central Coast. Mission Hope features the most advanced technology and provides the entire spectrum of cancer care and a multitude of support services and therapies. MHCC is affiliated with the UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center and provides advanced opportunities for patients to participate in clinical trials. It is accredited as a Comprehensive Community Cancer Center by the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer and received seven commendations. Mission Hope is a recipient of the Outstanding Achievement Award, which is the highest designation awarded to community cancer centers and Marian is one of only three designated programs between San Francisco and Los Angeles.

For the fourth consecutive year, the CoastHills Community Foundation has named MHCC the beneficiary of proceeds from their annual event, Rancho Vino. This year’s donation of $75,000 brings the total contribution to $282,000 presented to the center. On September 20, more than 300 people gathered at the Monarch Club at Trilogy for an afternoon of food, spirits, and community. Culinary vendors provided fine cuisine and local vineyards offered a selection of fine wines for the occasion. Guests of the event enjoyed a live and silent auction, all for a good cause.

“We are blessed to have such an outstanding treatment facility like Mission Hope right here in our community, and CoastHills Credit Union is honored to be a part of the support system for the past four years,” stated Jeff York, president and CEO of CoastHills Credit Union. “Our Rancho Vino event is a culmination of months of planning, weeks of preparation, and a day of dedicated volunteers making the magic happen. With this year’s event we are approaching $300,000 in fundraising for the cancer center – now that’s “Another Great Day.”

“Once again this year, members of CoastHills have demonstrated their commitment to cancer patients in our area and at Mission Hope Cancer Center,” says Dr. Robert Dichmann, Medical Oncologist and Medical Director for the Mission Hope Cancer Center. “It takes a tremendous amount of work to put on an event like Rancho Vino, and the CoastHills staff once again poured their hearts into this effort on our behalf. There are numerous other causes that CoastHills could be concentrating on, but we are grateful that they have chosen cancer care as their focus over the last four years. We will ensure that the money raised by CoastHills will have a significant impact on the lives of cancer patients at MHCC. We cannot express our gratitude enough.”

This generous donation will greatly benefit MHCC and allow for hope and healing for Central Coast cancer patients and their loved ones. Although another successful Rancho Vino has concluded, community members can still make donations in support of MHCC.
