Volunteers Give Their Time to Candidates

Volunteers are working long hours to help their candidates win on Nov. 4.

During the recent heat wave, some joked that they volunteered for the air conditioning in the campaign offices, but volunteers in the 24th Congressional District say they do it for the candidates.

In return, they said they get a lot of time with the candidates when they are in town.

Julie Bischof volunteers for Chris Mitchum’s congressional campaign. She said it is a grass-roots effort. She said many volunteers take time out from jobs and businesses to get their candidate’s message out.

Charles Clouse volunteers for incumbent Rep. Lois Capps.
Clouse said the campaign is well organized. He said all the volunteers are treated well.

Many of volunteers make calls and hand out campaign fliers. Some of the volunteers have been giving their time for years. They said they love the democratic process.
