Dredging Project Underway in Oxnard
A massive dredging project started on Tuesday in the Channel Islands Harbor.
The dredging machine is taking out excess sand from the harbor, but the sand isn’t going to waste. It is being sent to Hueneme Beach, where a majority of the sand has disappeared over the years due to erosion.
The $12 million dredging project is partially funded by the Navy and Army Corps of Engineers, but the majority of the money is coming from the White House’s fiscal year budget.
The Channel Islands dredging project will be finished in February. Once it is done, that giant dredging boat will move to the Ventura Harbor to work on a project there.
