Solvang Named Host Town For 2015 Special Olympics World Games

The 2015 Special Olympic World Games will be held in Los Angeles next July, but before the athletes compete they’ll travel to different “host towns” around southern California.

One hundred communities have been selected to welcome around 10,000 athletes and coaches representing 177 different countries.

Solvang will offer the athletes Danish-American culture, training and hospitality.

Each host town had to bid to be named a host city and city officials say it’s an honor to be selected.

The 2015 Special Olympic World Games will be July 25 through Aug. 2.

The games are expected to be the single biggest sporting event in Los Angeles since the 1984 Olympic Games.
