Women’s Polo Event to Benefit Girls Inc.

The Santa Barbara Polo and Racquet Club is hosting the top women polo players in the country for tournament that will benefit Girl’s Inc.

Some of the matches have already begun, and they will continue through the weekend. The first one took place at 11 this morning.

The championship is Sunday at 3 p.m.

Young women from Santa Barbara and Carpinteria have been invited to come out and see the sport up close and meet the players. Melanja Jones with the Polo Club said the event gives them some rare insights. “Incredible amount of team work going on incredible amount of athleticism and we hope it teaches girls they can achieve in this traditionally male dominated sport, and go on to great things
in their athletic career.”

The tournament’s primary sponsor is Gauthier and winners will be presented with a diamond covered horseshoe pendant.

There will also be a Saturday night gala for the polo players, friends and supporters.
