Montecito Fire District Breaks In New Truck
Montecito firefighters have a new truck to fight brush fires and wildfires.
It looks like a Ford-F450 in the front because it is one but it has a Pierce fire engine body in the back .
Firefighters said the $100,000 vehicle will help them maneuver in tight places on wildfire calls.
The truck can hold 250 gallons of water, half the amount of a larger engine but two and half times more than the department’s 1999 patrol truck.
Crews said it is ready to go if mutual aid is needed near Corona, California, or elsewhere in the state.
Fire danger is on high due to heat in the forecast.
