Activists Call For Fair Sentencing
Activists from “People Organized for the Defense & Equal Rights,” better known as PODER,, held candles and picket signs outside the Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s office Thursday evening.
They said they were inspired by rallies in Ferguson, Missouri, where people are speak out about minority arrests, fines and sentencing.
They said people of color are often given longer sentences and offered tougher plea agreements.
They would like to see the creation of an oversight committee.
Brandon Morse also questioned the objectivity of a prosecutor married to a detective.
