Santa Maria Police Respond to Injury Pedestrian Accident

Santa Maria police officers responded to an injury traffic collision betweena car and a pedestrian. 43-year-old Matthew Davis of Santa Maria was pushing a bicycle eastbound across Broadway at the intersection of Inger and Broadway, and was struck by a vehicle traveling northbound.

Witnesses reported that the pedestrian was difficult to see in the dark and failed to yield to traffic when he was struck.

Davis was transported to Marian Hospital then flown to Cottage Hospital due to a head injury. He remains in ICU.

The driver, a 17-year-old male, was cooperative and alcohol is not a factor with the driver, but unknown with the pedestrian.
