Missing Accused Child Molester Found in Texas
A man facing charges of child molestation in Santa Maria was captured in Texas early Friday morning. Clive Decomarmond, 41, failed to show up Tuesday for a court hearing in his trial, leading to a manhunt to find him.
He was arrested twice and faces charges of lewd acts with minors dating back to 2012.
Investigators have not released where in Texas Decomarmond was captured, but police officers are traveling to Texas to return him to the Central Coast.
Decomarmond had posted bail twice to remain free while his trial was prepared. He pleaded not guilty to 20 felony counts of child molestation, including incidents were girls under the age of 14 were molested.
Deputy District Attorney and case prosecutor Brandon Jebens says Decomarmond faced the possibility of life in prison if convicted. At a prior hearing, Decomarmond was seen wearing a tracking device on his ankle. He has dual citizenship in the U.S. and the Republic of Seychelles.
On Tuesday, the Deputy District Attorney preparing the case said five girls who were preparing to testify were “devastated” by the disappearance.
Decomarmond’s home on Logan Drive is now listed in foreclosure, and neighbors noticed a significant change after he was arrested.
“Oh he’s gone, his yard sales held the motorcycles, the BMW, when they came to repossess it. His boat which was for sale forever, it disappeared. He basically collected as much cash as he could and left.” said neighbor Robby Thompson.
