Bill Beefs Up Title IX

Gov. Jerry Brown signed Senate Bill 1349 into law this week.

The bill shines a light on gender equality in schools by requiring schools to report the number of girls and boys on teams.

Hannah-Beth Jackson authored the bill to make sure schools were complying with Title IX, the law prohibiting gender discrimination in school activities.

Jackson said she had to fight to play ball as a youngster. She said it was one of the reasons she got into politics.
