DP Football Puts in the Hard Work For Upcoming Season
They say the early bird gets the worm and Dos Pueblos High School football hopes that early offseason workouts will lead them to a successful season that includes the playoffs.
The Chargers lifted weights every school day at 6:30 a.m. during the entire second semester last school year. It wasn’t easy but that was the point. Head Coach Nate Mendoza is old school and he demands that his team is disciplined and tough.
DP is also talented. Barrett Burnes returns at quarterback while the Chargers should be able to run the ball behind an experienced offensive line. Most of their running backs return such as Angel Davison and Alfonso Ponce de Leon.
The Chargers defense should be stout as well with junior Eric Botello and Austen Pearce on the line and they have an experienced unit at linebacker. Caesar Flores leads a solid secondary.
The Chargers are expected to contend for a Channel League title and they should be able to wipe out the bad taste of missing last year’s playoffs.
Dos Pueblos kicks off their season August 29 at home against Pacifica of Oxnard.
