Friends Remember Skylar Kindschy

When teammates think of Skylar Kindschy, the first thing that comes to mind is his laugh and smile.

“His smile and optimistic attitude was infectious,” Charlie Magana said of his friend.

Skylar Kindschy’s life was cut short after an accident took the life of the 17-year-old.

Kindschy had just graduated Cabrillo High School. The Vandenberg Village teen had a deep love of baseball.

Ozzy Medina, a former teammate said, “We’re family,(about the team) and he was a huge part of that.”

Friends of Kindschy said he was exploring several career options after high school graduation. He was interested in the police academy, the armed forces and baseball.

Teammate and friend, Kenny Barton said, “As soon as I think of Skylar’s name I see that smile, he was always laughing.

Conner ‘Boomer’ Duffy, also a former teammate, said, “He enjoyed the game of baseball, he was one of the hardest working players at practice.”

Janessa Cook, a close friend, described Kindschy as a fun-loving person.

Cook said Kindschy made her sweet 16 birthday memorable. “He was the life of the party, honestly his smile would light up a room, he would be the funniest and loudest person there. You knew Skylar was there.”

When friends heard the news of the accident they gathered at Cabrillo High School’s baseball field. A group of around 40 friends sat on the field and showed their love and support of Kindschy.

Charlie Magana, a close friend and teammate said, “He(Skylar Kindscy)lived life the right way, full-hearted in everything he did. He played baseball with intensity and passion, and he never had anything bad to say about anyone.”

On Saturday friends will host a co-ed baseball game in honor of Kindschy at Cabrillo High School.

An account has been set up at Coast Hills Credit Union under Skylar Kindschy fund to help his family for funeral expenses.
