Morro Bay Turns 50 Today

The city of Morro Bay is celebrating its 50th birthday today with a flashback to its early days in the 1960s.

Community members are all invited to a Founder’s Day picnic where they will honor their past and look forward to the future.

The radio station 97.3 FM will be playing the biggest hits from the founding year, 1964. There will also be a vintage 1964 Morro Bay police cruiser and fire truck along with a special birthday cake.

The picnic will be held in the City Park at the intersection of Morro Bay Boulevard and Harbor Street. The event will go from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
