Beach Erosion Plan Approved

The California Coastal Commission approved a rocky plan to fight erosion on the beach in Port Hueneme.

The commission voted to allow a temporary rock wall to stay in place.

Mayor Jonathon Sharkey said the vote comes just in time for big waves in the surf forecast.

The vote also paves the way for funding to make the rock wall a permanent structure.

Large boulders placed over tarp have kept the sand from being swept away just north of Hueneme Pier.
