Refurbished Boat Launch Opened to Public
The Channel Islands Harbor has a refurbished boat launch thanks to boat fuel taxes.
More than $4 million dollars was spent on a six-lane boat launch off Victoria Avenue in the harbor. Parking, a new restroom, walkway and picnic area were also built.
The launch is free to the public, but there is a fee to park during the day and overnight.
The launch ramp opening comes at a time when boat launches at some local lakes are closed due to the low water levels because of the drought.
Boaters said the opening comes just in time for the busy Fourth of July holiday, too.
