Police sting operations on the Central Coast

In the most recent sting operation San Luis Obispo County officers arrested 23 people for a prostitution bust.

But for officers on the Central Coast it’s not all that common to go undercover, especially for cases like prostitution. Crimes that happen behind closed doors are harder to catch because of their nature.

Officers say that by performing sting operations they make criminals aware of the consequences and they hope it discourages them from doing it in the city.

The joint agency bust was planned after several violent robberies occurred at hotel rooms, with the purpose of prostitution in 2011 and this year.

Officers posted online advertisements and waited to be contacted by suspects, then met with them in various hotel rooms. The sting lasted three days.
