Child Offered Hundreds of Dollars for Sex
A man is in custody Monday after offering a 13-year-old girl hundreds of dollars for sexual services.
Around 8:30 a.m., near the 400 Block of North Thornburg, Santa Maria, a girl was approached by a man later located and identified as Angel Hernandez Mendez.
The girl was on her way to school when she was offered $500 in exchange for sexual services.
The child fled from the scene and reported the incident to the Santa Maria Police Department.
Officers investigated the incident and arrested Mendez for attempted lewd acts with a child.
