Ventura teen facing attempted murder charges

Oxnard police believe they have solved a gang-related double shooting case.

On April 22, a 19-year-old man was shot multiple times and an 18-year-old woman was grazed by a bullet around 8 p.m. on Devonshire Drive.

The gunman got away, but after numerous interviews, police followed some leads that led them to 19-year-old Ruben Anthony Hernandez of Ventura.

Hernandez is being held on four counts of attempted murder. Police said he is also facing a special allegation that the crime was committed for the benefit of his gang.

Hernandez is expected to make his first court appearance in this case on Tuesday.

Both victims have been released from the hospital.
