AG senior Stevens wins 100-yd breaststroke CIF Division 2 Finals

Zach Stevens not only won but he did it in record-breaking fashion. The Arroyo Grande senior captured the championship in the boys 100-yard breaststroke in the CIF Southern Section Division 2 Finals.

He set a D-2 meet recordwith a time of 55.13 seconds. He came in sixth in the 200 Individual Medley.

Dos Pueblos’ Alex Valente finished second in an electrifying 100-yard butterfly race in Division 1 action. Redlands’ Kyle Gornay broke his own meet record with a time of 46.83 while Valante swam 47.41 seconds. Gornay also won the 100-yard backstroke while Valente came in seventh.

DP’s Blake Parrish finished fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke and the Chargers boys 200 medley relay team came in third.

San Marcos’ girls 200 freestyle relay team placed 11th overall. The time of 1.39.65 is a school record.

Santa Barbara’s girls relay team came in eighth place in the 200 freestyle.
