Rollover accident injures two

Two people were sent to an area hospital Monday after their car veered off highway 154 and rolled 200 feet down a steep embankment, the California Highway Patrol said.

The accident happened just after 8:30 a.m. on the east side of highway 154 a few miles west of Santa Barbara.

The Mitsubishi Montero ended up on its roof. The driver and passenger were able to get themselves out of the their SUV before rescuers arrived.

Santa Barbara County Search and Rescue workers hoisted both people up the steep hillside.

Both victims were taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.
