Oxnard Police to dedicate checkpoints to teen killed by drunk driver
In 2009, Taylor Moss was on her way home from a Halloween party when she was killed by a drunk driver.
The driver who caused the accident is now serving a lengthy sentence and Moss is being remembered in a unique way.
Oxnard police are dedicating a DUI checkpoint to the 19-year-old Friday night.
They have also invited her family to hand out photos of their loved one and pictures of the accident.
They hope it will drive the message home that drunk driving kills.
Moss was a college student working at Build-A-Bear when it happened.
She had hoped to find a career that would help others.
Police officers said they hope to dedicate all of their future checkpoints to drunk driving victims.
Other checkpoints are also being held over the weekend to prevent deadly accidents during Cinco de Mayo celebrations.
