Santa Barbara Fair & Expo placed on lockdown

The Earl Warren Showground in Santa Barbara was placed on lock down Friday night as authorities searched for a missing girl. People attending the Santa Barbara Fair and Expo were not allowed to leave the fairgrounds for about ten minutes. Some people became frustrated and called NewsChannel 3 claiming no one explained what was going on. According to officials, they did make an announcement over the public address system. They locked the front gates and did not allow any cars to leave the area until they located the child. They say that is standard procedure whenever a child is reported missing. Many people leaving the fair told NewsChannel 3 they were unaware there had been a lock down, or a search for a missing child.

The girl, who is about seven years old, was found safe.
