Legal trailblazer to speak in Oxnard
The namesake of the Cruz Reynoso Justice Center in Oxnard will be speaking in Oxnard Saturday.
Cruz Reynoso was California’s first Latino Supreme Court justice. The Presidential Medal of Honor winner will give the keynote address at a civil rights conference at Oxnard College.
Members of Mecha and Todo Poder Al Pueblo are co-hosting the event called: “Justice for Our Communities! Families Organizing to Resist Police Brutality and Abuse.”
Organizers said they intend to talk about police brutality and abuse in the state and in Oxnard. They said the Oxnard Police Department is facing two wrongful death lawsuits.
The conference is being held at Oxnard College from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 27.
