Sabado’s 2-run single gives Dons win over Ventura

In one inning Santa Barbara High School’s Skyler Sabado went from goat to hero. The catcher drilled a two-out, two-run single in the sixth inning to give the Dons a 2-1 Channel League baseball win over Ventura.

The game was scoreless until the top of the fifth when Sabado dropped a throw home by Johnny Brontsema that allowed Devan Peterson to score. But Sabado’s clutch hit lifted Santa Barbara to a 4-2 league mark, just a half a game back of first-place Dos Pueblos. Ventura suffered their second loss this week to the Dons and fell to 2-3 in league.
