Dons outlast Chargers in 5-set win

Santa Barbara capped off a big rivalry week with a thrilling five-set home victory over Dos Pueblos in boys high school volleyball. After sweeping San Marcos on Tuesday, the Dons had to dig deep to edge the Chargers and stay undefeated in the Channel League.

The visitors from Goleta won the first set 25-17 but the Dons pulled out the next two sets by identical 25-23 scores. DP answered by taking the fourth set 25-19. But Santa Barbara bounced back to edge the Chargers in the final set 15-13.

The win improves the Dons to 4-0 in league and 14-6 overall. DP is 2-2 in league and both losses have been five-set matches.

Tristan Fauntleroy led Santa Barbara with 15 kills while Jackson Wopat had a match-high 17 kills for Dos Pueblos.
