25-year-old cold case may be solved
A twenty-five year old cold case is getting hotter. The suspect who allegedly killed then 24-year-old Bernardo Santos Sierra in Santa Barbara in September of 1988 is now behind bars.
Pedro Alonso Bravo was arrested in early March, and is currently in custody in Mexico City. Bravo escaped to Mexico where he remained a fugitive.
Santa Barbara Police Chief Cam Sanchez made the announcement on Thursday in a press conference. He said that this arrest was made possible through the hard work of a number of agencies. He spoke with the victim’s family, who is relieved to see some justice after all these years.
Sanchez adds that Bravo will remain in Mexico. Since he is a Mexican national, he will be tried there.
