Gauchos’ bats explode against rival Mustangs
UC Santa Barbara scored a season-high 13 runs to hand rival Cal Poly a second loss in as many days. The Gauchos beat the Mustangs 13-2.
UCSBgot on the board first with two runs in the first. Woody Woodward led things off with a triple to left-center field. Brandon Trinkwon followed and hit a bullet up the middle, off Cal Poly pitcher Matt Imhof, to score Woodward.The Gauchosadded a second run on an RBI groundout by Tyler Kuresa.
In the sixth inning, UCSB blew the game open, scoring 11 runs.
On the mound, Justin Jacome went eight innings, allowedtwo runs and stuck out five.
The third and final game of this series is 1 p.m. Sunday at UC Santa Barbara.
