SLO Marathon will close some roads

The second annual San Luis Obispo Marathon and Half Marathon kick off festivities Friday at the Madonna Inn.

Throughout the weekend, several festivities will be taking place at the Madonna Inn, including a 5-kilometer, children’s fun run and live music. Sunday is the big race day.

Participants will begin at San Luis Obispo High School and end at the Madonna Inn.

“We open on Friday for athletes to come pick up their packets so it’s just a big party really. Going to have a lot of music, a lot of people here, we’re going to have a lot of fun,” said event director Heather Hellman.

There will be several road closures so be prepared for detours and delays Sunday.
