Wanted felon arrested on a outstanding warrant after short pursuit
A wanted felon is behind bars after a short pursuit in Santa Barbara Tuesday night.
Police said a plain clothes detective saw a man they recognized as Yuri Zhaqari about 6:45 p.m. near State St. and Alamar Ave.
Detectives said they started following Zhaqari and when he realized he was being followed he tried getting away in his car.
Authorities chased him to the area near Glendessary Lane in Mission Canyon. Zhaqaridrove into a dead end street, go out of his car and tried to escape on foot.
Police set up a perimeter in the area and captured the man a short time later.
