Museum of Ventura County turns 100

The Museum of Ventura County is marking its 100th year with a celebration Saturday night. The museum on East Main Street, across from the mission, in downtown Ventura is hosting a lavish cocktail reception and dance.

Artists made replica cakes for the occasion, but the museum will be serving edible birthday cake, too.

The celebration coincides with the opening of the Prized Possessions exhibit.
One curator described it as a century of collecting with some personal items mixed in. The show includes one of the oldest and newest foam surfboards and a Ventura scrapbook made in 1902.

Tickets ranging from $20 to $50 are being sold at the door. People may also make reservations by calling 805-653-0323 ext. 304.
