Defense attorney wants DA to personally try DUI case
The defense attorney for DUI suspect Tony Denunzio wants Santa Barbara County District Attorney Joyce Dudley to prosecute the case personally.
Last week, Dudley announced she will re-try Denunzio for driving under the influence.
The first trial ended in a hung jury.
The case was covered by local media because of allegations of police brutality during the arrest. Denunzio’s attorney, Darryl Genis released a statement that reads in part:
“Perhaps you will personally handle the re-trial of people vs. Denunzio. As the Hallmark slogan goes: “when you care enough to send the very best… do you care enough to send your very best?”
Dudley has not responded to the statement.
