Westmont advances to championship game at NAIA National Tournament

Just two schools of 32 are still alive and Westmont College is still standing at the NAIA Division I Women’s Basketball National Tournament. The Warriors upset top-ranked Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) 59-49 to reach Tuesday’s title game where they will play Lee (Tenn.)

Tugce Canitez and Esther Lee each scored 19 points to lead the Warriors into the NAIA title game. Lee made four three-pointers and Westmont was 7-of-13 for the night from beyond the arc. In addition to her 19 points, Canitez pulled down a game-high nine rebounds.

Westmont will meet Lee at 3:35 PDT in the first title game appearance for either program.
