Police Chief says very active investigations underway after shootings
Santa Barbara Police Chief Cam Sanchez says detectives are working long hours to solve two recent shooting cases, one that was fatal.
That led off a monthly crime report presented by Sanchez to the Santa Barbara City Council.
Sanchez also said the department still has concerns with residential and car burglaries, crimes by teens, and offenses by transients in the shopping areas.
The most recent shooting detailed by Sanchez left an 18-year old wounded with a shot to the abdomen on Wentworth Street. Police say the victim is not cooperating with investigators.
The other shooting was last month on Olive street. That took the life of 21-year old Kelly Hunt from Ventura. It’s unknown why he was in Santa Barbara.
No one has been arrested in either shooting.
