Mustangs lose on final second putback by Pacific at men’s BWC Tournament

Cal Poly’s Big West Tournament run ends with a heartbreaking loss. Travis Fulton’s putback with 1.3 seconds left gave Pacific a 55-53 win in the semifinals of the Big West Conference Tournament in Anaheim.

Chris O’Brien’s two free throws with exactly one minute to go gave Cal Poly a 53-51 lead. Lorenzo McCloud tied it with a layup with 50 seconds left. After Dylan Royer missed a three-pointer with 27 seconds remaining the game looked like it was heading to overtime. But Fulton rebounded a missed jumper and sank the game-winner from around five feet away.

Cal Poly falls to 18-13. Pacific faces UC Irvine in the championship game at 7:30 p.m.
