Photographer seeks funding to help his Fiesta book
A Santa Barbara photographer is hoping community donations and pre-orders will bring in the final funding for a nearly finished book on the Old Spanish Days Fiesta.
Art Fisher is hoping to raise $20,000 for the project. Slightly over half the funds have come in. He needs the rest of the money by the end of the month. With that Fisher says 2000 books can be printed by mid-July, in time for Santa Barbara’s annual Old Spanish Days Fiesta. It’s the largest and most historic event of the year in Santa Barbara.
Fisher has been shooting pictures of Fiesta for over a decade. He has been at every event from performances on the steps of the mission to the mercados and stage shows in De La Guerra Plaza.
Fisher is also using social media through what’s called “crowd funding” to accept donations and take advance orders for his book.
“I’m putting in a substantial amount of my own money, but I can’t do it alone,” said Fisher. “This is a chance for people to make this project happen.”
