Westmont loses in First Round of NAIA National Tournament

Westmont College fell behind 30-13 in the first half and they could never quite recover as they were upset 71-65 by Martin Methodist of Tennessee in the first round of the NAIA National Tournament in men’s basketball.

No. 11 Westmont pulled within three points twice in the second half but could never get over the hump as they end their season in Kansas City at 25-8.

Westmont made just 21 of 56 shots for 32.1 percent and they sank just three of their 12 three-point attempts. Senior Preston Branson scored a game-high 19 points for a Westmont team that won it’s first regular-season GSAC title in 20 years.
