Police: Woman found dead was strangled

Police said a suspicious death over the weekend turned out to be a homicide.

The Ventura County medical examiner said a woman found in an alley was strangled. Her body was found near the 1300 block of E Street Saturday night.

With the help of fingerprints, she was identified as Pamela Sue Silva. The 42-year old had relatives in Ventura, but she did not have a permanent home.

This is the third homicide in Oxnard this year.
