Westmont is a #1 seed into NAIA Women’s Basketball National Tournament

It’s always nice to have the best player on your team. Westmont College has that luxury as they enter this weeks NAIA Women’s Basketball National Tournament with star Tugce Canitez.

The senior from Turkey is the two-time GSAC Player of the Year as she is averaging over 21 points per game along with an twelve rebounds per contest. The Warriors earned a #1 seed and will face Cumberlands of Kentucky in a first-round game on Thursday from Franfort, Kentucky. Tip-off is scheduled for 11:15 a.m. Pacific Time. Westmont won two games at this tournament last year.

Meanwhile the Westmont men are in Kansas City as they make their first appearance in the National Tournament since 2007. The Warriors are a veteran team led by senior Preston Branson who has earned All-GSAC honors three times including this season.

Westmont opens up this 32-team tournament on Wednesday at 11.15 a.m. PST against Martin Methodist of Tennessee.
