House fire displaces seven

Seven people have been displaced after a fire destroyed their home.

The fire broke out about 4:00 a.m. Monday in the 700 block of Ribera Drive, north of Santa Barbara.

A couple, their son and three roommates lived at the home.

“I had a dream my parents house was on fire. That made me wake up. When I woke up, I smelled the smoke,” said homeowner Christian Hunter.

Fire officials said the fire broke out in the garage, which was converted to a studio. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Flames reached the second floor of the house. The garage is destroyed. The rest of the home suffered mostly smoke and water damage.

Fire investigators tell NewsChannel 3, there were no working smoke detectors in the home.
