Dons girls basketball season ends in second round of CIF State Tournament

Superior size and depth prevailed as Chaminade pulled away from Santa Barbara in the fourth quarter to win 71-53 in a CIF State Tournament Division III second round game at West Hills.

The Dons only trailed 47-41 heading into the last quarter despite being dominated on the boards. Melissa Lemus scored 18 points and Ivette Gil added 15 to keep the Dons in striking distance until late in the contest.

Santa Barbara ends a great year with a 25-9 record that included the program’s first-ever victory in the CIF State Tournament.
