Oxnard City Council filing deadline nears

Four people have filed the necessary paperwork to run for Oxnard City Council, but more than a dozen have pulled papers.

They have until Friday at 5 p.m. to enter the race for the seat vacated by Tim Flynn.

Flynn was elected mayor.

Rather than choose someone to fill his city council seat, the council voted to pay for a special election on June 4.

The winner will fill the fifth council seat until the end of 2014.
