Williams’ career day leads Gauchos over Matadors

A career-high 32 points from sophomore Alan Williams led UC Santa Barbara to an 83-74 road win over Cal State Northridge on Saturday night.

The win puts the Gauchos (9-19 overall, 5-11 in the Big West) in the drivers seat for one of the final spots in the Big West Tournament.UCSB opened the second half with a 20-8 run and outlasted the Matadors (13-17 overall, 4-13 in the Big West) down the stretch.

Williams scored 24 of his game-high 32 points in the second half and add 16 rebounds and 3 blocks. Kyle Boswell finished with 18 points, all in the second half.

Santa Barbara will host Cal State Fullerton on Thursdayand UC Riverside on March 9 at the Thunder Dome.
