Dons honor Simon Chavez in season opener

Simon Chavez’ parents Ana and Luis threw out the first pitch before Santa Barbara High School baseball’s season-opener against Pioneer Valley. The 22-year old Chavez was killed in a hit-in-run accident along Highway 101 on January 15.

Chavez played baseball for the Dons and also coached the freshman and junior varsity squads.

As for the game, Santa Barbara High School scored just one run and lost at home 4-1 to Pioneer Valley.
