Name released of man hit and killed by train in Carpinteria
Santa Barbara County sheriff’s officials have identified the man who was struck and killed by a train earlier this month in Carpinteria.
They say 51-year-old James Robert Boltz was hit near Padaro and Santa Claus Lane on Feb. 12th by a Union Pacific Train.
Union Pacific personnel reported the accident to authorities around 9:40 p.m.
All trains were stopped in the area during the initial investigation.
Police are waiting for a toxicology report before they determine his official cause of death.
According to Boltz’s obituary, he worked for 12 years at UCSB as a financial analyst.
