Gauchos lose 8-1 in season opener at Fresno State

For starters this was not pretty for UCSB. The Gauchos committed four errors and left the bases loaded twice without scoring in an 8-1 season-opening loss at Fresno State.

Sophomore pitcher Andrew Vasquez walked his first two batters of the season and the Bulldogs cashed them both in as they led 2-0 after one inning. Vasquez worked 3 2/3 innings giving up just those two runs, only one of them was earned.

Tyler Kuresa knocked in the only run of the game for the Gauchos as he plated Cameron Newell with a seventh inning single.

The 3-game series continues Saturday night.
