DP wins boys basketball playoff opener

A 10-0 run late in the third quarter sealed a 57-33 first-round CIF 2A win for Dos Pueblos over Norwalk in boys basketball. Leading 33-24, Cruz Mertens scored two straight baskets including a three-pointer while Chris Williams added two lay-ups as the Chargers extended the lead to 43-24 and cruised into the next round where they will host Elsinore on Tuesday.

Zach Shugart had a game-high 14 points, Mertens added 13 while Gerry Perez ended up with 12 points for DP.
