Dons girls soccer season ends in first-round playoff game

An outstanding high school girls soccer season for Santa Barbara came to a close with a first-round home playoff loss to Long Beach Millikan 3-1. Santa Barbara won the Channel League championship for the first time since 1986 but could not carry that magic into the playoffs.

Tied at halftime at one, the Dons gave up a goal in the 43rd minute to Andrea Franco and could never recover. They had a few good chances but the equalizer never came. Millikan put the game away with a goal in the 77th minute by Amaris Sherlock.

Santa Barbara’s lone goal was from Katie Joseff in the 30th minute.
